“The writer who will not dig deep within their wells of pain for inspiration will never stir the passions of their readers .”

— unknown

I remember the first time I read this quote. It hit me like a lightening bolt right down the chest to the bowels of my belly.! My best work has always been written from a place of authenticity and depth. The path of shadow and I are quite familiar with one another. I have traveled down this murky road of unknowns on many occasions. But I find these wells of inspiration are never summoned easily, Especially during a time of self discovery when at times, you barely know who you are.

why poetry?

It’s been said that poetry has made a comeback. But did it ever leave? We as writers have always dwelled in the shadowy depths of words and emotions. Poetry is the language of Love and Life. The way it flows and breathes. The way it stimulates the mind and ignites the imagination.

Why I write poetry?

Simply put, it allows me to speak authentically without fear, ego or limitation. True expression lives in vulnerability.

The ideas

brewing in my head

erupted like a volcano.

Giving birth to words

that avalanched

unto the blank sheet

in front of me.

  • Erotica Poetry Compilation

In the eighties, I was writing poetry about crushes and teenage angst. You could say I was in an exploratory stage, getting in touch with my feelings. I began writing erotic poetry in the early 90’s. Inspired for the most part by Prince and Madonna, two of the most prominent provocateurs of our time. Bonafide icons who gave me the courage to explore the question of my own sexual desires and the mysteries within us all.

My first poem was three pages long titled, “The Seducer”. The second one written in 1991 was six pages long titled, “An Erotic Affair”. Both were quite the hit during poetry readings.

Whether based upon my own personal encounters or simply allowing the organic seeds of imagination to blossom it was plain to see how liberating it felt writing erotica. It is not just about sex. It is about passion, love, relating, expression, energy, and connection.

After making the decision in 2022 to compile and rewrite some of my earlier works, I am currently working on a curated collection of poetry and the other is a special project that I will announce sometime this year.

  • Tethered: 4-Story Series

This four story series is still in its early stages. There is not much I can say about this but I will leave you with the following excerpt…….

“So now the table has turned. And although she seems to want him more and more, the timing is not right. Her battle is won for now but his soul lives on.

He resides dormant inside of her but safe from anyone else. Question is, is she safe from him? It could only be a matter of time before he has absorbed within her and then what……….

She must find a way to cast him out before it’s too late.”

FAQ: How do I organize my writing projects?

The Author’s Planner.

Have you ever suffered from writers block? If you have, you know it is a cruel state to be in for someone who loves to put words to paper. I read somewhere just recently that there is not a such thing as writer’s block. Well, I will have to disagree. I have had a tsunami of ideas but I just could not translate it to paper.

Sometime at the beginning of 2021, I felt it was time to break this stagnation so I began to challenge myself by using writer’s prompts and entering various poetry contests.

Now that the creative mind is once again fertile the challenge is in organizing the outpouring of ideas.

There are a lot of writing tools out there to help get organized. In the end, it’s what works best for your vision.

I stumbled upon “The Author’s Planner” while scanning Amazon for hours following a never ending trail of books and suggestions and also adding things to my wishlist I may never buy. I don’t do it all the time but when I do, well you know…………..

This little gem will help weave together a tapestry that makes sense. A creative artists business map allowing you to edit and market your own publications.
